Super Falcons standout, Asisat Oshoala, has earned a nomination for the 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or following her successful stint with Barcelona Femeni.
The organizers of the award, French Football, unveiled the list of nominees in a tweet on their official account on the evening of September 6. Among the 30 individuals on the shortlist is the Nigerian star.

Oshoala will be aiming to outshine 29 other contenders, which include Women’s World Cup champion Aitana Bonmati, in her quest for the coveted award.
During her recent accomplishments, Oshoala secured the Champions League title with her team and was also a part of the Nigerian squad that exited the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand in the round of 16.
The 28-year-old Nigerian played a pivotal role in her team’s triumph in the Primera Division last season and featured in their victory in the Supercopa de Espana Femenina, completing a historic treble. She impressively netted 21 goals in 28 league matches last season.
