A new parliamentary error by Senate President Godswill Akpabio has plunged the Red Chamber into another round of crisis, only 24 hours before the start of a retooling retreat for Senators. Yesterday’s shouting match on the floor between Akpabio and the Senate’s Chief Whip, Ali Ndume, helped to resolve the crisis.
Just four months after the 10th National Assembly’s convocation, during which Ndume played a key part in Akpabio’s ascent to the position of Senate President, the duo’s center can no longer support them.
When Ndume claimed that some Senators planned to take harsh measures against Akpabio for inadvertently releasing that information two months earlier, there were indications that things were not going well between the two pals.
