The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that the autopsy on the late Afrobeats artist, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad, has been completed. This confirmation was made by the Lagos Police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on X (formerly Twitter). The police are now awaiting the results of Mohbad’s autopsy.
“Autopsy has been concluded. Awaiting result…,” wrote Hundeyin.
Earlier on Thursday, the Lagos State Police had confirmed that they had exhumed Mohbad’s body as part of the ongoing investigation.
In addition to the police investigation, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has invited the Department of State Services (DSS) to participate in the inquiry into Mohbad’s death. The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, stated that the government is urging anyone with crucial information to come forward and assist the investigation, emphasizing the need to protect the confidentiality and safety of witnesses.
Omotoso also appealed to friends and fans of the late artist to remain calm and avoid making inflammatory statements or reaching premature conclusions about the matter. The Lagos State government expressed its condolences to Mohbad’s family and fans, acknowledging the loss of a talented and promising young artist in a highly competitive industry.
The special investigative team appointed by the police to uncover the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death has been given a deadline of two weeks, starting from Monday, September 18, to submit an interim report.
