The Presidential Election Petitions Court, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, has upheld President Bola Tinubu’s election under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In its verdict, the court ruled that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, were unable to substantiate their claim that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was incorrect in declaring Tinubu as the duly elected President based on the majority of valid votes cast in the February 25, 2023 election.
The court declared, “This petition, therefore, lacks merit. I affirm the election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The parties are responsible for their costs.”

Regarding the concerns over Tinubu’s criminal record and dual citizenship, the Tribunal reiterated that these issues were incompetent and should be dismissed.
On March 1, INEC announced Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election, securing a total of 8,794,726 votes, defeating his main rivals, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, who garnered 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who came in third with a total of 6,101,533 votes.
