President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held a meeting with the Service Chiefs, led by Chief of Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor, at the State House in Abuja on Thursday, June 1, 2023.
The president, who arrived at the Villa at 10:53 am, reportedly went straight into a closed-door session with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao; and Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba.

After taking office on Monday, May 29, 2023, President Tinubu has only met with the service chiefs once in person.
The president underlined in his inaugural address that his administration will prioritize security and increase its expenditure on security personnel. “Security shall be the main concern of our administration because prosperity and justice cannot thrive in an atmosphere of insecurity and violence,” he declared. We will update both the architecture and our security doctrine in order to address this threat effectively. In order to enhance our investment in security professionals, we must do more than simply hire additional people. We’ll offer better instruction, tools, compensation, and firepower.
After the meeting, National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno addressed journalists and disclosed that the president tasked the security agencies with developing a blueprint to address the issue of crude oil theft. The president also emphasized the need for frequent consultations in line with the nation’s demands.
