The Imo State Police command has apprehended a 22-year-old man named Obinna Ugochukwu in connection with the fatal stabbing of his friend. The arrest was made after a murder case was reported at the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID), as confirmed by SP Okoye, the spokesperson of the state police command.
At a press briefing, SP Okoye showcased the suspect to the media and explained that the Imo State Police Command called on their Forensic Experts to examine the evidence. This careful analysis played a key role in capturing the suspect, who comes from the Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.
During the investigation, SP Okoye stated that the suspect admitted to repeatedly stabbing his friend, Nwachukwu Stanley, with a sharp knife while he was asleep. This unfortunate incident occurred due to a misunderstanding over their fraudulent acquisition of $3000 through cyber-crime activities. Nwachukwu Stanley was from Umuoma in Ikeduru L.G.A. of Imo State.
The police spokesperson added that the victim’s body has been taken to the morgue, while the suspect will be arraigned in court.
