In a meticulously planned offensive operation, the troops of 8 Division Garrison effectively neutralized a notorious group of terrorists in Tukandu Village, Sokoto state. These terrorists were responsible for numerous atrocious and heinous activities in the area.
According to a statement by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, the operation took place on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. The troops launched a fierce onslaught, resulting in the termination of several terrorists, while others managed to escape with gunshot wounds.
In subsequent mop-up operations, the troops successfully recovered three AK-47 rifles, one PKT gun, 125 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, 2 rocket-propelled gun bombs, and 9 motorcycles from the fleeing terrorists.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism, urging them to maintain their resolve and intensify their efforts to eradicate the terrorists and restrict their freedom of action.
With this successful counterterrorism operation, the ongoing efforts to safeguard the peace and security of Sokoto state have been significantly enhanced. The military remains committed to combating terrorism and protecting the lives and properties of the citizens.
