Chef Mohammad Baydoun, popularly known as Amazing Chef, has disclosed the reasons behind his relocation from Lebanon, his country of origin, to pursue his culinary career in Nigeria.
The renowned restaurateur claimed in an interview with The Guardian that he moved to Nigeria, specifically Lagos, because of a job offer.
He reaffirmed his faith in his ability to connect with Nigerians’ vivacious spirit while expressing his love for the vivid environment and the nation itself.
His words;
“I moved to Lagos because I got a job offer. I like the vibe and the country. It has this amazing vibe and I have what it takes to match the energy”.
Speaking on why he enjoys working in Nigeria, he highlighted the country’s favorable conditions such as rich soil, clean air, and quality water, which contribute to the growth of exceptional fruits and vegetables.
Amazing chef mentioned the availability of remarkable meats, further emphasizing the abundance of quality ingredients that enhance his culinary endeavors.
His words;
“I like to work in Nigeria because it has good soil, air and water which helps to grow amazing fruit and vegetables and they also have amazing meats,”
He moved to Nigeria in 2018 and quickly became enamored of amala, gbegiri, and ewedu. He is known as “Wonderful Chef” on social media.
As he attended a Lagos celebration, he saw an elderly woman prepare these traditional Nigerian foods with skill from scratch, which increased his appreciation for them (Owambe).
