Howard University has decided to revoke the honorary degree given to American rapper and music mogul, Sean Combs, popularly known as Diddy.
In view of the several sexual assault accusations against Diddy and the public video showing him assaulting his former girlfriend Cassie in a hotel, the university’s Board of Trustees unanimously decided to take this step, which Howard University feels is inconsistent with its core principles.

“The Howard University Board of Trustees voted unanimously today to accept the return by Mr. Sean Combs of the honorary degree conferred upon him in 2014,” a university spokesperson told Fox on Friday.
“This acceptance revokes all honors and privileges associated with the degree. Accordingly, the Board has directed that his name be removed from all documents listing honorary degree recipients of Howard University.”
Diddy is a former student at Howard who dropped out in 1990 after two years, he was awarded the honorary doctorate and served as the commencement speaker in 2014.
Diddy has since apologized for his actions following the release of the viral video, eliciting alot of reaction from online users.
The singer made an apology video stating that he was at the lowest point of his life but it wasn’t an excuse to manhandle Cassie.
Besides, he has sought professional help and asked God to forgive him because he was sorry for the disgusting act.
He also apologized to his fans for all that happened and noted that he is taking the blame for his actions. Consequently, he is working on a path to become a better man.
Several netizens were still angry with Diddy and made their thoughts known on his Instagram page while others stood with him.
